In 2009, A. R Rahman made history by a double whammy in Oscars for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Two Academy awards later, after seven years, Rahman is back in the race for the Oscar.

This time, the maestro is featured in a list of 145 scores in contention for a nomination in the Original Score category for the 89th Academy Awards. That’s not all. He will also be nominated in the Original song category for an acclaimed 2016 biographical movie, “Ginga”.

To be announced on Januray 24th 2017, this is not the first time since 2009 that he will be nominated. In 2011, Rahman had received two nominations for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards for his original score as well as song in Boyle’s ‘127 Hours’. In 2014, Hollywood movies like ‘Million Dollar Arm’ and ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’, along with an Indian film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ gave Rahman a chance to bag the golden lady yet again.

However, this time, we hope the gold comes home.
